As TiVo DVRs age, fans become noisy and clogged with dust. Due to the high volume of requests for information on finding the proper fans for TiVo units, we are now providing replacement fans for many models. These fans are of the same specification as or better than the original fans that shipped in your TiVo. In many cases, the new fans are also substantially quieter, higher-quality, and long-lasting due to improvements in design and technology. Many fans are produced by the same manufacturing facility that currently produces fans for new TiVo DVRs and are therefore consistent with TiVo's high standards.

Heat can substantially lessen the lifespan of TiVo models - and any component that contains a hard drive. Heat increases the likelihood that drives wear out sooner. Be sure your TiVo is getting adequate air flow by checking, and potentially replacing, your fan. All of the fans below have the same two-position connector as the current fan in your TiVo.
TiVo Fan Shipping Notes: Fans ordered with other items or by service faster than ground service will generally ship via UPS. Fans ordered alone by ground service generally ship via USPS. Fan orders include the tools necessary for installation if your TiVo requires Torx tools (if not already included with other parts in your order). Fans generally ship the day ordered if the appropriate shipping carrier hasn't yet visited our facility.

NOTE: "Flat fan grill" refers to the grates on the back of your TCD240040 or TCD240080 TiVo. If the fan grill is flush/flat, then you need this fan. If your fan grill juts out from the back of the case, then you need the fan below. If you purchased your TiVo new and it is on the list above, then you have a flat fan grill. If you purchased a refurbished unit, or if you had to send your TiVo in for repair, then you may have a raised fan grill. |

*DirecTV actually produced two different versions of the SD-DVR40 unit, each using a different fan size. In the older units, the back of the unit is flat, and only four screws hold the lid of the unit to the back. In the later units, they added a larger fan with a grill outcropping. Those units have five screws securing the lid of the TiVo to the back. Be sure to check your unit before ordering as the model number alone is not sufficient for ordering for this model.
